Information on travel services provided.
Please complete the travel questionnaire below. The nurse will then advise if you need an appointment.
We politely request that you try to book your travel appointment at least 6 weeks before departure. The earlier the better! This is because most vaccines require at least two weeks to become effective and some vaccines require more than one dose.
Due to demand appointments get booked quickly so the earlier you try to book before travel the more likely you will get a suitable appointment. It is difficult to offer appointments at short notice (eg if travelling in less than 3 weeks) and we may ask you to attend a private clinic if we are unable to offer a suitable appointment.
Most private travel clinics can provide appointments at short notice however be aware that their services will incur a fee.**
We only provide free NHS travel vaccines. These include hepatitis A ,typhoid and diptheria/tetanus/polio vaccines.
Non NHS travel vaccines eg yellow fever, meningitis ACWY, rabies, Japanese Encephalitis, hepatitis B are only available at private travel clinics
Where vaccines occur a fee, this is applicable to all travellers irrespective of age or NHS entitlement.
Malaria medication is not provided free by the NHS.
If malaria medication is issued on prescription a private prescription charge will apply.* Further charges will also be applied when the prescription is dispensed by the pharmacy.
Malaria medication can also be purchased at the pharmacy or through private travel clinic or from the internet.
It is recommended that you obtain advice either from a reputable travel site, travel clinic or the practice nurse as to the most suitable medication you require before you purchase your malaria tablets.
